
No. 69 Harvard Defeats Women's Tennis, 5-2

ALLSTON, Mass. - Seeing its season-opening four-match win streak snapped, the Boston University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 69 Harvard on Friday evening. The Crimson (2-4) swept through doubles action and then won four of the six singles contests for the team victory.
Reigning America East Player of the Week Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis and junior Jessi Linero began the day with an 8-2 loss to No. 23 Norton/Tachibana at the top doubles spot but rebounded with wins at No. 3 and 6, respectively, in singles action.
After only winning one game in the second set, Athanasiadis rallied back for a 6-2, 1-6, 7-6(6) victory over Hideko Tachibana, while Linero dominated in a 6-2, 6-2 straight sets win against Natalie Blosser.
Dropping her first match of the dual season, freshman Sami Lieb won the first set at No. 5 but eventually fell to Kelly Whelan, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0.
The Terriers will return to Harvard's courts on Sunday (Feb. 26) to face Furman at 10 a.m.
