CHARLESTON, S.C. - Beginning its Spring Break trip in South Carolina, the Boston University women's tennis team fell to Rutgers, 5-2, on Monday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights (6-5) won two of the three doubles matches and four of the six contests against the Terriers (4-5).
In doubles action, junior Vivien Laszloffy and senior Petra Santini picked up BU's first win by rolling past the pair of Lindsay Balsamo/Satreethai Sasinin, 8-2.
Sophomore Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis earned the Terriers' first point with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win against Jennifer Holzberg at No. 2. Sophomore Amelia Martinez followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Satreethai Sasinin in the No. 6 slot.
The Terriers missed out on another point at No. 4, as junior Jessi Linero dropped a hard-fought 7-6(4), 7-6(5) match to Stefania Balasa.
BU will remain in Charleston, S.C., this week and will next face the College of Charleston on Wednesday, March 14.
