BOSTON - After pulling out an 8-5 victory over Yale's then-No. 22 Hannu Yu/Victoria Brook last week, Boston University women's tennis junior Jessi Linero and sophomore Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis have earned their first-ever national ranking.
The No. 67 ranking marks the second consecutive year that the Terriers have had a pair in the poll after senior Stefanie Nunic and junior Vivien Laszloffy were placed at No. 68 last season. In 2011, the women soon thereafter fell out of the poll, as they both dealt with injuries the rest of the dual season.
Athanaisadis and Linero enter Wednesday's match against No. 74 College of Charleston holding a 6-2 record this spring, including a win over St. John's and a hard-fought loss to Harvard's No. 33 Norton/Tachibana.
