
Roesch Tabbed Top America East Softball Scholar-Athlete

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Boston University’s Emily Roesch has been named the top America East Scholar-Athlete in softball, the conference announced on Thursday afternoon.
A native of Palm Beach, Fla., Roesch led the Terriers to the America East regular season and tournament titles and an appearance in the NCAA tournament. After missing last season due to injury, she started 54 games for the Terriers at second base and batted .281 on the season with 43 hits, including 10 doubles, a triple and five home runs. She posted 28 RBIs and scored 21 runs en route to being named to the All-Conference First Team.
Roesch, a senior academically, graduated Cum Laude from BU with a 3.48 GPA as a communication’s major. She earned BU’s Scholar-Athlete award and was recently named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the third straight year. Roesch was also an America East All-Academic Team selection.
Her honor marks the seventh for BU since 1999 and the first since Christy Leath was tabbed the top Scholar-Athlete since 2007.
Each America East Scholar-Athlete is a starter or prominent reserve, carries a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.30. A committee of athletic administrators and NCAA Faculty Athletics Representatives chooses a Scholar-Athlete in each of the league’s 20 championship sports. Of those 20 sport Scholar-Athletes, America East recognizes an annual Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
