Q&A With Nicole
- Why did you choose to attend BU? "When I was in high school, I chose to attend Boston University for its balance of academic rigor and athletic excellence. I wanted to come to the East Coast and attend a school with a strong reputation in the health field, and Sargent College was a great fit. The softball team had created both a winning and welcoming environment, which made me excited to choose BU. "
- What did you enjoy most about your BU experience? "Some of the moments I enjoyed most were the small things you wouldn't necessarily expect. The long days with my teammates during preseason, study sessions where we laughed more than studied, or spending time walking around campus in the spring. I'm grateful for my time at BU for creating lifelong friendships with my teammates and roommates, obtaining my Master of Public Health degree, and meeting my partner, Jonas Harper (men's basketball)."
- How did your time at BU prepare you to get to where you are today? "Being a student-athlete at BU shaped how I approach my work in public health research in a few ways. Balancing competing priorities with school and sports while building work ethic and perseverance during tough seasons translates directly into my professional career. My role as a captain helped me develop stronger emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication skills that continue to be important in my day-to-day."
- Why is it meaningful for you to be involved with the University, Athletics, and Terrier Softball as an alumnus? "I spent some time traveling after my career at BU, and one of the things I came to appreciate was the importance of the unique bond you share with other Boston University student-athletes. Whether that be the relationships you create during your studies, or new connections with other alumni across the world, being a part of this community has given me incredible opportunities and memories which I hope to pay forward by staying involved."
