
Softball Drops Pair on Second Day of Citrus Classic

ORLANDO, Fla. - Continuing the 2013 Citrus Classic, the Boston University softball team fell to Wisconsin and Georgia Southern by identical scores of 9-1 on Saturday afternoon at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
In the first game, the Badgers (7-1) only had a three-run advantage, 4-1, entering the top of the seventh but added five more for its second victory of the weekend against the Terriers (1-3). During the second contest, BU and the Eagles (7-5) were scoreless through three-and-a-half innings before GSU's offense exploded for nine runs to even the weekend series at 1-1.
Earning a 2-1 complete-game victory over GSU on Friday, senior Whitney Tuthill (1-1) suffered her first loss of the season against Wisconsin, allowing four runs on 12 hits while striking out three batters.
In her first career start against the Eagles, freshman Lauren Hynes (0-1) pitched 3.2 innings, allowing six hits and eight runs with four of them unearned. She also had four walks and three strikeouts.
BU's offense was held to a combined two runs by Wisconsin and GSU with 10 hits. Sophomore Emily Felbaum led the Terriers with a 3-of-4 performance, recording an RBI single against the Eagles after swiping her second career stolen base against the Badgers.
The Terriers will conclude the three-day event with Wisconsin on Sunday (Feb. 24) at 11:15 a.m.
