BOSTON - Boston University head women's soccer coach Nancy Feldman has agreed to a contract extension through the 2017 season, it was announced today by Drew Marrochello, BU's director of athletics.
Feldman recently completed her 20th year at the helm of the BU program and has led the Terriers to 12 NCAA tournament appearances and 11 conference tournament titles during her tenure. This past season, BU successfully defended its Patriot League title and earned a first-round home game in the NCAAs for the third time in four seasons. The Terriers posted a 14-5-3 record, securing the 19th 10-win campaign in the program's 20-year history.
"Nancy is one of the most respected coaches in the nation and it is with great pleasure that we announce this contract extension to keep the program in her hands," said Marrochello. "Thanks to Nancy, the women's soccer product here at BU is simply outstanding both on and off the field. The program's success is a tribute to her commitment in creating a well-rounded experience for all of her student-athletes. She is valued not only within our department, but within the entire University community."
Named BU's first women's soccer coach in March of 1995, Feldman has guided the squad to a 265-116-37 record over the past two decades and her Terrier teams have combined for an incredible 132-20-10 record in conference play. She is one of only 20 coaches in NCAA women's soccer history to accumulate over 350 career victories, as she previously served successful Division III head-coaching stints at both Lake Forest (1988-89) and Plymouth State (1990-94).
Feldman is a nine-time conference Coach of the Year at BU and she twice earned NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year honors (2001, 2013). During her time with the Terriers, she has coached nine All-Americans and her players have accumulated 79 all-conference accolades over the past dozen seasons.
The BU women's soccer program has produced some of the top scholar-athletes at the school with Feldman at the helm, earning various awards at the national, regional and conference levels while regularly maintaining one of the top team grade-point averages in the department.
"It's such an incredible honor to coach at Boston University," said Feldman, who has guided the Terriers to the second round of the NCAA tournament on four occasions. "I'm very proud of the experience we're able to provide our student-athletes here at BU, from the great support of our administration to the school's elite academic reputation to the opportunity to live in the vibrant city of Boston. BU has been such a great fit for me since the day I got here and I'm excited to continue building on our program's success both on and off the field."
