
Women's Tennis Edges Middle Tennessee State, 4-3

MIAMI - Behind three straight-set victories in singles, the Boston University women's tennis team began its spring break trip with a 4-3 victory over Middle Tennessee State on Monday afternoon.
Sophomores Johanna Hyoty and Kim McCallum each posted a win in doubles to help BU (6-5) earn the first point before winning their respective singles matches in straight sets. Classmate Lauren Davis also won in straight sets with Hyoty's victory sealing the Terriers' triumph, as the Blue Raiders fell to 6-4.
McCallum and sophomore Madison Craft won the first doubles match, 8-5, before Hyoty teamed with senior Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis to earn a convincing 8-1 win in the second match.
In singles, McCallum took the first match, 6-4, 6-0, before Davis won the No. 2 match, 6-1, 6-3. Hyoty put the Terriers' ahead for good with her 7-6(4), 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Freshman Barbara Rodriguez competed well in the next match, winning the first set before falling, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
BU will remain in Miami and be back in action on Thursday against Troy.
