CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Boston University softball seniors Chelsea Kehr and Jayme Mask have been named to the Patriot League All-Academic team, the conference office Tuesday afternoon. The squad consists of 12 student-athletes from around the league that earned a 3.20 GPA or higher and were starters or important reserves for their respective teams.
The pair of honors mark the second consecutive year that BU had two members named to the All-Academic team.
Currently batting .296 with a league-high 16 doubles and 26 RBIs, the first baseman Kehr is receiving her first All-Academic award. She was previously named to the 2013 NFCA Scholar-Athlete All-America Team and two America East Commissioner Honor Rolls for owning a GPA of 3.50 or higher. She will graduate later this month with a degree in speech-language pathology.
One week ago, Mask was the lone Patriot League member placed on the CoSIDA/Capital One All-Academic District I squad. Currently holding a GPA of 3.41, she earned a degree in biology back in December and will add a second degree in psychology. The 2014 BU Athletic Woman of the Year is third in the conference with a .399 batting average and leads the league in stolen bases (33).
The duo and the rest of the Terriers will open the Patriot League tournament hosted by Lehigh as the No. 2 seed against No. 3 Bucknell on Thursday (May 8) at 2:30 p.m.
