PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Boston University women's soccer head coach Nancy Feldman was one of nine to be inducted into the 38th class of the New England Soccer Hall of Fame on Sunday.
“Nancy is one of the best coaches I have ever worked with and she is truly an ambassador for the sport and for women’s athletics," said Drew Marrochello, BU’s director of athletics. "This is a well-deserved honor that recognizes her lasting impact on so many student-athletes in this region. [Former BU athletic director] Gary Strickler couldn’t have made a better hire when he chose Nancy to start our women¹s soccer program 21 years ago and we couldn’t be more proud of her and her teams’ accomplishments.”
Feldman, who is in her 21st season at BU, was joined by Eusebio, Shaun Bailey, Javier Centeno, Darren Eales, Angelo Passaretta, Frank Pearson, Fred Pereira and Douglas Tashjian. Feldman is the only member of this year's induction class that is a collegiate head coach.
"I am honored and humbled to be recognized with some of the great New England soccer names," Feldman said. "I have spent most of my life in New England involved in the game, beginning as a player at Needham High and UMass and then as a coach at a few high schools and colleges in assistant and head capacities before having the good fortune to be at the helm of a soccer program at such a prestigious school as BU."
The honor comes after one of the best seasons in BU's program history, as Feldman led the Terriers to an NCAA Second Round appearance for just the fifth time. The NCAA First Round win came on the heels of Boston University's third-straight Patriot League Championship, which makes 12 conference titles in Feldman's illustrious career. This season also marked the 13th time BU has made the NCAA Tournament.
Feldman is a 10-time conference Coach of the Year and two-time NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year. She also boasts 12 Regular Season Conference Championships and has been at the helm of the Terriers since the program was elevated from club status in 1995.
"I have been blessed to have the support of my family to follow my passion as a coach as well has to have worked with great players and great people of the last 30 years, many of whom I now call friends," Feldman said.
