Russell Repeats as PL Pitcher of the Week

After collecting three victories and 27 strikeouts in a combined 24.1 innings of work, senior Melanie Russell of the Boston University softball team has repeated as the Patriot League Corvias Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
In her opening game of the week, Russell tallied 11 strikeouts and limited defending PL champion Lehigh to just two hits in a 4-0 victory. The 11 Ks were the most by any pitcher against Lehigh since 2014.
This past weekend at Holy Cross, she limited the Crusaders to two earned runs and just seven hits in 12.2 innings of work while adding 14 strikeouts.
Russell now sits at 10-8 with a 2.29 ERA.
