BOSTON – Highlighted by matchups with reigning NCAA champion Oklahoma and 12-time national champion UCLA , the Boston University softball team has announced the 2018 schedule. The challenging slate will feature 11 contests against teams that reached the NCAA tournament last season and nine games against opponents who finished runner-up in their respective conference final alongside the Terriers.
Led by third-year head coach Ashley Waters, the Terriers will open the 56-game schedule against Northern Illinois on Friday, Feb. 9 at the FAU Kick-Off Classic in Boca Raton, Fla. They will later participate in four other regular season tournaments at New Mexico State's Troy Cox Classic, the San Diego Classic co-hosted by San Diego and San Diego State, the Louisville Slugger Invitational co-hosted by Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton and the St. John's Invitational.
Returning 2017 PL Player of the Year Jilee Schanda and former Rookie of the Year Brittany Younan, BU will host 17 games, including two games on March 24-25 against America East runner-up Maine and a April 3 contest against Ivy League runner-up Harvard.
The two-time Patriot League champion Terriers will open their fifth year in the conference at Army West Point on March 31-April 1. BU will later visit Holy Cross (April 14-15) for the annual Turnpike Trophy series and wrap up the home slate against Bucknell on April 28-29.
