
Terriers Outdone in Second Half at Loyola, 16-11

BALTIMORE, Md. - Despite holding a five-goal advantage at the half, the Boston University women's lacrosse team could not withstand a second-half comeback at Loyola, as the Greyhounds outscored the Terriers 13-3 en route to dropping BU, 16-11, Saturday afternoon at the Ridley Athletic Complex.

TALE OF TWO HALVES
- BU held a 8-3 advantage heading into halftime as Avery Donahoe and Taylor Hardison netted hat tricks, but Loyola came storming out of the gates to start the second with five goals in the first five minutes to tie the game up at 8-8.
- The Greyhounds and Terriers exchanged goals before Loyola stroked a 4-0 run spanning 10 minutes. Mickenzie Larivee and Hardsion each put the game within three as time winded down, but Loyola scored a pair in the final minute to seal the game.
- Loyola snapped the opening two goals in the first seven minutes in until Taylor Hardsinon ripped a laser into the top shelf in transition, cutting the deficit back to one with 22:16 left in the first.
- Kelly Mathews surveyed her options outside the crease before spinning past two defenders and found Larivee, who drove it past the keeper to tie the game up at 2-2.
- Donahoe snuck in back-to-back goals within a two-minute span to give BU a 4-2 handle on the scoreboard with 14:06 remaining in the first.
- The Greyhounds cut BU's lead to one before Hardison fired home a free position shot to put the Terriers back up by two, 5-3, with just over eight minutes left before the break.
- Donahoe capped her first half hat trick with a wicked backhanded shot through traffic with just over two minutes left in the half.
- The Terriers offensive fury added two score in the final minute as Mackenzie Howe scored with 58 ticks left before Hardison completed the first half hat trick as time expired, capping a 4-0 BU run as it headed to the break with the upper hand at 8-3.
- Following its 6-1 run to open the second stanza, Loyola took its first lead of the game since eight-minute mark in the first at 9-8 with 21:38 left in the game.
- Elizabeth Jayne tied the game up for the third time at 9-9, but the Greyhounds answered just 35 seconds later to reclaim the lead for good.
- The Terriers registered their highest scoring output against Loyola since both schools joined the Patriot League.
- Hardison previously had seven games of scoring two goals before today's four-score contest. Along with a career-high four goals, the senior added two assists for a career-best six-point day.
- Donahoe posted her second hat trick of the season after being held scoreless the three previous games.
- Larivee extended her point streak to five games and has accounted for 12 points during the stretch. The junior has netted multi-goal games in six out of seven games played this season.
- Kailey Conry notched her fifth straight game of dishing out at least three assists and has a team-best 17 assists on the year. Conry and Hardison are tied for the team lead with 20 points.
- Maria Guerra matched a career-high with three ground balls.
- BU had its streak of 31 straight converted clears snapped in the last seven minutes of the first half.
- The Terriers will return to Nickerson Field for a midweek contest with Colgate on Wednesday, March 29 at 5 p.m.
