BOSTON – The Boston University women's lacrosse team will close out its two-game West Coast trip as it heads to Los Angeles for a showdown at No. 4/6 USC on Wednesday, March 8. Opening draw from McAlister Field is set for 5 p.m. EST.
LAST TIME OUT
• BU dropped a 14-8 decision Sunday at San Diego State.
• With the score tied at 7-7 with 24:17 remaining, the Aztecs went on a 6-0 run to pull away.
• Junior Mickenzie Larivee netted her first hat trick of the season and the eighth of her career, while freshman Kailey Conry dished out three assists.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
• Caroline Meegan leads the Patriot League and is tied for fourth in the NCAA with 12.00 saves per game.
• The junior is also tied for second in the PL with a .500 save percentage.
• Meegan stopped a career-high 17 shots in the season opener at BC Feb. 15.
PILING UP POINTS
• Kelly Matthews leads the team with a 12-game point streak.
• The sophomore had piled on 21 points on 19 goals and two assists.
• Taylor Hardison follows with a 10-game streak, amassing 27 points on five scores and 22 assists.
SCOUTING THE TROJANS
• USC enters Wednesday's contest with a 3-1 mark, its lone loss coming in a 15-10 decision at the the hands of then-No. 4 Florida.
• The Trojans have won 16 straight games at McAlister Field.
• Gussie Johns, Michaela Michael and Lydia Sutton were all named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list.
• Michael leads the team with 14 points on nine goals and five assists.
• Kerrigan Miller is tied for the team with with Michael with nine goals and ranks second with 12 points.
• Johns owns a 8.86 goals against average and a .534 save percentage.
CALIFORNIACATION
• This is the first time since 2012 BU has played in the Golden State.
• The Terriers previously topped Cal and Saint Mary's on their last spring break trip.
• BU had never faced San Diego State until Sunday's matchup and will take on USC for the first time on Wednesday.
MEEGAN EARNS PRESEASON HONORS
• Caroline Meegan was named to the Patriot League Preseason All-League Team.
• A Second Team All-Patriot League selection last year, Meegan posted a Patriot League-best .520 save percentage and a league-high 9.73 saves per game in 2016.
• Meegan's 146 saves were the second most in the conference and she finished the year with a goals-against average of 9.21.
TERRIERS TABBED TO FINISH FOURTH IN PL
• BU was picked by the league's coaches and sports information directors to finish fourth in the annual Patriot League preseason poll.
• The Terriers earned 123 points, just one behind third-place Lehigh. Loyola Maryland (162 points) received all 18 possible first-place votes, with Navy (141) earning the other two top nods.
• BU has finished in the top four of the regular-season standings and advanced to the Patriot League championship weekend in each of its first three seasons in the conference.
OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAINS
• The Terriers will be led by three senior captains in 2017.
• Charlotte Castronovo, Taylor Hardison and Janelle Macone were all named captains.
• All three players have been successful on the field, in the classroom and in the community during their time at BU.
• Castronovo started every game at defense last season, causing 12 turnovers and collecting 16 ground balls.
• Hardison was an Academic All-Patriot League and IWLCA Academic Honor Roll selection for the second straight season, finishing the year with a team-high 36 assists.
• Macone was a Second Team All-Patriot League defender in 2016 after she secured 11 ground balls and caused 14 turnovers.
RETURN OF THE ATTACK
• Two of the Terriers' top three point producers from a year ago are back, as senior Taylor Hardison and junior Mickenzie Larivee will lead the Terrier attack.
• Hardison was 10th in the nation in assists per game (2.0 apg) and led the Terriers with 36 helpers. She was also second on the squad with 42 points.
• Larivee was third on the Terriers with 41 points thanks to 34 goals and seven assists.
TERRIERS ON THE WORLD STAGE
• BU will be well-represented at the 2017 FIL World Cup in England this summer.
• Current junior Sarah Andersen will be playing for Israel while head coach Liz Robertshaw is once again an assistant coach with Team USA.
• Former Terrier standout Caitlin Defliese ('10) will be an assistant coach for Canada.
BUT THIS GOES TO 11
• Head coach Liz Robertshaw is in her 11th season at the helm of the women's lacrosse program.
• She will be in search of her fifth conference title in 2017 and in the process will look to advance to the Patriot League semifinals for a fourth consecutive season.
• Robertshaw won her 100th game last season and enters the season with 109 career victories, all of which came at BU.
CHALLENGING SCHEDULE AWAITS BU
• The Terriers will play its final team ranked within the top 20 at No. RV/19 Loyola Maryland on March 25.
• Its three games against ranked opponents will all be on the road.

• BU will return to Nickerson Field to host Fairfield on Wednesday, March 3.
