CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Two days after earning Patriot League Player of the Year honors, Boston University women's tennis sophomore Remi Ramos added to her impressive awards haul with Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades, the conference announced Wednesday morning. The announcement marks the first time since 2014 that the Terriers had two members named to the six-member All-Academic Team, as Ramos was joined by senior Madison Craft.
A native of Parkland, Florida, Ramos claimed the program's fifth Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in six years under head coach Lesley Sheehan after Leonie-Charlotte Athanasiadis ('14) was recognized twice by the America East (2012, 13) and three-time PL Player of the Year Johanna Hyoty ('16) was honored each of the last two seasons. While earning a 3.72 GPA in business administration and management, Ramos led BU this season with a team-high 18 singles victories and a stellar 7-0 mark against Patriot League competition. She has also won her last seven matches in straight sets, including the PL championship clinching win at line 2 against Army West Point.
Plagued by injury, Craft was named to the PL Academic Honor Roll the last three years, but today marks her first All-Academic Team honor. The Frisco, Texas, native collected four wins during the dual season in singles action and played at No. 5 during the conference tournament. Her true contributions though came in doubles, as she combined for eight wins in the No. 3 slot with sophomore Sophia Kryloff and freshman Lily O'Fagan. Off the court, she is majoring in human physiology with a 3.74 GPA.
The duo will next compete on Friday at No. 15 Duke (May 12) in the opening round of the NCAAs with doubles set to begin at 4 p.m.
