Faybyshev, Kostirko Capture Rutgers ITA Summer Circuit Doubles Title

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Boston University women's tennis senior Iryna Kostirko and junior Sabrina Faybyshev teamed together over the weekend to capture the open doubles title during a Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Summer Circuit tournament hosted by Rutgers.
The duo entered as the No. 3 seed and started the event with a first-round bye. In their first match, they claimed an 8-4 victory over a pair from Amherst and then edged two four-star high school recruits in a hard-fought 8-7 decision to reach the championship final.
Kostirko and Faybyshev captured the title with an impressive 8-2 victory over the No. 1 seed, which featured blue-chip recruit and incoming Notre Dame freshman Caroline Dunleavy and five-star recruit Anna Brylin.
The ITA Summer Circuit provides an opportunity for college and high level juniors players the opportunity to compete in organized events year-round. Kostirko and Faybyshev will return to campus in September to help BU begin its search for a fifth straight Patriot League title.
