TEMPE, Ariz. – After earning Patriot League Player of the Year honors last May and helping lead the Boston University women's tennis team to the NCAA tournament, junior Remi Ramos has received an invitation to compete in the prestigious ITA/Oracle Masters Tournament, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association this week.
Set to take place Sept. 21-24 at Malibu Racquet Club in Malibu, Calif., the Oracle ITA Masters for the second consecutive year will feature a 32-player field consisting of the top returning player from each of the 28 conferences along with four other at-large/wild card selections. Ramos will represent the Patriot League in women's singles action after classmate Sabrina Faybyshev earned the nod last season and will also team with Army West Point's Michael Nguyen in mixed doubles.
A native of Parkland, Florida, Ramos posted a team-high 18 singles victories with a combined 11 wins in the No. 2/3 slots and a stellar 7-0 mark against Patriot League competition. She also won her last seven matches in straight sets, including the PL championship-clinching win at No. 2 against Army West Point.
Led by 33rd-year head coach Lesley Sheehan, the Terriers will open the fall portion of the 2016-17 schedule at the Columbia Invitational on Sept. 15-17.
