For the first time in the Terriers' 40-year history at the varsity level, the team has posted 4-0 starts in back-to-back seasons. After winning the Terrier Classic on opening weekend, BU posted victories over Ball State and the host RedHawks at last weekend's Miami Invitational.
Albany is 1-2 on the young season, most recently posting a 5-3 road win over Holy Cross after opening the year with overtime home losses to Miami and Boston College.
BU has not faced Albany since 2012, the Terriers' final season in the America East Conference. In 16 all-time meetings, the Terriers have 10 wins and the Great Danes have six.
Through four games, senior co-captain Grace Boston leads the Terriers in points with five on two goals and an assist. Three freshmen (Ailsa Connolly, Miya Denison, Petra Hall) have each recorded two goals.
In goal, junior Kathleen Keegan and freshman Millie Baker have split time with each playing a half in all four games. Both goalkeepers have allowed just one goal and sport 0.50 goals-against averages while Keegan holds a slight lead in save percentage (.900-.833).
The Great Danes are looking to replace the dynamic scoring duo of Paula Heuser and Molly Mariano, who combined for 76 points, including 31 goals, last season. Freshman Katie MacCallum has a team-best five points (2g, 1a) thus far this season while classmate Ghislaine Beerkens (2g) and junior Camryn Dias (1g, 2a) have contributed four points apiece.
Redshirt sophomore Melissa Nealon is the only goalkeeper on Albany's roster this season and is sporting a .696 save percentage to go along with a 2.07 goals-against average.
