Women's Tennis Cruises to 6-1 Victory over Providence

BOSTON – Hosting their first of five home matches this season, the Boston University women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Big East's Providence on Sunday afternoon at the Track & Tennis Center.
Both senior Remi Ramos and sophomore Lily Burchell won all 18 of their games during singles and doubles action to help the Terriers improve to 1-1, as the Friars fell to 1-4.

- Ramos and sophomore Katya Martens teamed together at No. 3 doubles for a 6-0 win, a feat duplicated by senior Sabrina Faybyshev and Burchell in the No. 2 slot.
- Sophomore Emily Kim and freshman Shelly Yaloz completed the doubles sweep at line 1 by breaking Providence late for the 7-5 victory.
- Ramos (#2) and Burchell (#4) cruised to 6-0, 6-0 wins with Martens dropping just two games in the No. 6 slot.
- Yaloz (#3) and Faybyshev (#5) only lost three games apiece for the final two points of the day.
- Providence avoided the sweep, as Risa Takenaka rallied for a 0-6, 6-4, 10-7 win against Kim at No. 1 singles.
- BU has now won 22-straight home matches at the Track & Tennis Center.
- The Terriers faced the Friars for the first time since claiming an identical 6-1 victory on the road in 2000.
- The Terriers will open the month of February by hosting Rhode Island on Friday (Feb. 1) at 3 p.m.
- BU rolled to a 7-0 win last season after edging the Rams, 4-3, in 2017.
