
Terriers Fall Short Against No. 8 Princeton, 3-1

BOSTON - The Boston University field hockey team fell to No. 8 Princeton by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at New Balance Field.
The Tigers came out of the gates fast and recorded three goals in the opening half before the Terriers regrouped and put together a strong second half that culminated in senior Kiley Gallagher's second goal of the season.
BU falls to 4-10 on the year while Princeton stretches their win streak to seven games and improves to 10-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers put together an impressive first half, totaling 15 shots and three goals while not allowing a shot in their zone.
- Clara Roth opened the scoring with her first of two goals as she was positioned in front of the cage and redirected a pass from Emma Street to the boards at the 6:45 mark.
- Princeton used a corner to take a 2-0 lead in the 17th minute with Sammy Popper converting from the top of the circle off assists from Julianna Tornetta and Roth.
- After an initial save off a corner by BU netminder Livy Golini, Roth completed her five-point day when she picked off a clearing attempt by the Terriers and scored from the left side of the circle at the 26:04 mark.
- BU turned things around in the second half, recording seven shots with five of them on target.
- Gallagher spoiled the Tigers' shutout bid at 56:33 when she dribbled through the right side of the circle before sending the ball towards the cage and in.
- Shots on goal after halftime were 6-5 in favor of Princeton.
- Golini made eight saves on 11 shots in the first half before freshman Caroline Kelly took over and stopped all six shots she faced.
- Grace Baylis played the first half in goal for the Tigers to pick up the win.
- In the second half, the Tigers went with Grace Brightbill in goal and she stopped four of the five shots she faced.
- Princeton held a 10-2 advantage in corners.
- The Terriers will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 26) when they visit Holy Cross for a critical Patriot League contest.
- BU must win both of its final Patriot League games against the Crusaders and Lehigh to qualify for the conference tournament.
- The annual Turnpike Trophy game will begin at 11 a.m.
