BOSTON - Taking on its second ranked opponent of the season, the Boston University women's lacrosse team will welcome No. 17 USC on Sunday, March 3. Opening draw from Nickerson Field is set for noon and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Mackenzie Irvine, Lexi Lewis and Kelly Mathews each netted a hat trick and posted four-game games as BU earned its third straight victory with a 16-5 decision over Fairfield Wednesday at home.
- BU forced 20 of Fairfield's 25 turnovers, with Tonianne Magnelli leading the way with four caused turnovers.
- Bianca Smith made five saves in her first start of the season.
- Kailey Conry is five assists shy of setting the program's all-time assists record, held by Erica Baumgartner '11.
- Her 3.75 assists per game ranks third among NCAA leaders, while her 5.75 points per game ranks ninth.
- Tonianne Magnelli (19), Kaitlin Belval (18) and Kelly Mathews (10) have been the dominant forces on the draw through the opening four games.
- The trio has combined for 47 of the team's 60 draw controls this season.
- BU has scored 36 goals over the past two games and has surrendered just seven.
- Eighteen different Terriers have found the back of the net at least once this season.
- Irvine has been on fire the last three games, netting a pair of hat tricks and has 10 points during that stretch.
- She has already surpassed her freshman campaign totals of five goals and three assists for eight points.
- Boston College snapped USC's undefeated start on Friday, topping the Trojans 12-9 to put them at 3-1 overall.
- The Trojans dropped to 0-5 played in the state of Massachusetts and to 12-13 overall in games played on the East Coast.
- Emily Concialdi leads USC with 12 goals and 15 points.
- Izzy McMahon and Kelsey Huff follow with eight goals apiece, while McMahon holds the runner-up position in points with 10.
- Riley Hertford has started all four games in net, holding a 12.05 goals against average and a .427 save percentage.
- Hertford also tops the team ranks in ground balls (6) and is tied for the lead in caused turnovers (6) with Kelsey Huff.
- Jackie Gilbert has won 22 of the Trojan's 64 draw controls.
- This will be the second matchup and first since 2017 against the Trojans.
- BU dropped the series debut 15-4 in Los Angeles.
- Conry scored or assisted on all four goals for the Terriers.
