Terriers Blanked at Maine, 6-0, in Regular-Season Finale

ORONO, Maine – The Boston University men's ice hockey team fell at Maine on Saturday evening by a score of 6-0 in the regular-season finale at Alfond Arena.
The Black Bears celebrated their Senior Night by scoring twice in each period and picking up their 15th win of the season.
The Terriers close out the regular season with a record of 14-16-4 and a conference mark of 12-9-3. BU finishes fifth in the Hockey East standings and will visit fourth-seeded UMass Lowell in a best-of-three Hockey East quarterfinal series beginning on Friday (March 15).
HOW IT HAPPENED

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maine got on the board quickly as Brendan Robbins scored off a tough angle just 1:44 into the game.
- The home team doubled its lead less than five minutes later as Chase Pearson tallied his team-leading 16th goal of the season by converting a backhand from the inner edge of the right circle at 7:19 of the opening period.
- Robbins added his second tally of the night at 2:28 of the second when he converted in front off a rush and Tim Doherty made it a 4-0 contest by getting ahead of the BU defense at 8:38 of the middle frame.
- Brady Keeper and Mitchell Fossier completed the scoring with tallies at 7:22 and 13:28, respectively, of the third period.
- Making his first start of the season, Rob McGovern turned in a 30-save shutout for the Black Bears
- All six Maine goals came at even strength.
- Robbins (2g, 1a) and Fossier (1g, 2a) each tallied a game-high three points
- BU held a 30-26 shot advantage with eight of its shots coming on four power-play chances.
- Junior Jake Oettinger stopped eight of 12 shots before being replaced by freshman Vinnie Purpura, who recorded 12 saves on 14 shots.
- BU will open the postseason on Friday (March 15) in the opener of a best-of-three Hockey East quarterfinal series at fourth-seeded UMass Lowell.
- Game time at Tsongas Center is 7:15 p.m.
