Morrow Clutch Again in 3-2 Come-From-Behind Win over Boston College
April 3, 2019 | Softball
BOSTON – With two outs and two on base, senior Emily Morrow proved clutch for the second consecutive game by delivering a walk-off triple to give the Boston University softball team a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind home victory against Boston College on Wednesday afternoon.
With their fifth-straight victory, the Terriers improve to 18-15 and a perfect 6-0 at home, while the Eagles fall to 11-20. Sophomore Ali DuBois (13-6) held BC to just three hits for the second consecutive year following last season's 1-0 loss with the help of six strikeouts. Morrow's hit was the fourth of the game against Susannah Anderson (4-10), who had seven strikeouts against three walks and two hit-by-pitches.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles had a runner advance to third on a throwing error and back-to-back sacrifice bunts in the top of the second, but DuBois got out of the jam with a swinging strikeout.
- Freshman Emily Gant earned BU's first hit in the third with a two-out single up the middle.
- BC threatened again in the fifth with a one-out hit-by-pitch and single before senior Alexa Ponce collected a grounder, touched third and threw a bullet to freshman Nicole Amodio at first for the double play.
- The Eagles started off the sixth with a strikeout and ground out but then placed a double down the left field and scored a run off a dropped ball in the outfield.
- BC extended the lead to 2-0 with a RBI single up the middle.
- Morrow started the comeback in the sixth by earing a one-out walk, advancing to third on senior Alex Heinen's single and scoring on Ponce's two-out RBI single up the middle.
- After DuBois struck out the side in the top of the seventh, sophomore Marina Sylvestri led off the bottom half with a walk and advanced to second on Amodio's sac bunt.
- Senior Analisa Ruff was hit by a pitch to put a second runner on base, leading to Morrow's game-winning heroics after she hit a walk-off homer against Holy Cross on Sunday.
- Morrow earned her second triple of the season and moved into a tie for second on the team at seven extra-base hits.
- The Terriers improved to 21-26 all-time in the series against BC dating back to 1988 and snapped a six-game losing streak with the last win occurring in 2013 at both home and away.
- BU improved to 3-6 this season in one-run decisions.
- BU will resume Patriot League play by visiting Lehigh for a three-game series with Saturday's doubleheader set to begin at 12 p.m.
- The Terriers won two-of-three last year at home during the regular season before eliminating the Mountain Hawks in the PL title game, 8-0(5), at home.
