April 22, 2020 | Women's Soccer
BOSTON – With the Covid-19 pandemic forcing student-athletes and staff to remain at home, the Boston University women's soccer team was undeterred in celebrating the season as it held a virtual banquet over Zoom on Monday.
Over 40 members were in attendance, including the student-athletes, staff, support staff, alumni, and members of the BU community.
Emma Heil received the Terrier Award as the most valuable team member. The ultimate teammate who was there for her teammates at every practice, game and moment with a positive attitude, Heil embodies all characteristics of a Terrier.

Margaret Berry was honored with the Community and Team Leadership Award. Berry is heavily involved with BU's student-athlete advisory committee and served as a lead mentor for Mariana Abad, the program's Team IMPACT signee.

For the second straight year, Ann Marie Jaworski earned the Academic Achievement Award, presented by Katie Baker, assistant director of student-athlete support services. Holding a 3.83 cumulative GPA in the College of Arts & Sciences as a psychology major and minor in applied human development with a focus on coaching, Jaworski will earn her bachelor's this May and return next season as a graduate student.

Massimo Gioffre, the team's Strength and & Conditioning Coach, named Lily Perryman the Strength & Conditioning Athlete of the Year. Perryman made tremendous strides in the weight room and established herself as a starter on the backline.

Deirdre Woolley '87, who was presented with the first Erica Lee Honor Award this past fall, given in loving memory of Erica Lee '08, who embodied Erica's loving soul, generosity and care for others, bestowed Elle Conlin the Alumni Association Most Improved Player Award. Conlin, who saw action in 11 games last season, was the only Terrier who started all 19 games during the 2019 season. Conlin led the team with 1,550 minutes and played a full game eight times.

The Offensive MVP went to Shannon Keefe, who led the Terriers in goals (3) and points (6) during her senior campaign. Keefe made marked improvements in her game every year in her career, transforming herself from a role player to an accomplished starter, and was a 2019 All-Patriot League Second Team selection.

Ashley Buck was dubbed the Rookie of the Year. The freshman played in all 19 games, making 14 starts as a central defender, and led all first-years on the team with 1,450 minutes.

Amanda Fay and Morgan Messner shared the Defensive MVP award. The goalkeeping duo guided BU to lead the league in saves (105) and saves per game (5.53).

The Jean Kelleher Award, presented annually to a significant supporter of the program in honor of Jean's contribution and lasting influence went to Sally Ward, an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising in the Questrom School of Management.
