October 11, 2021 | Women's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After helping lead the Boston University women's soccer team to a pair of 1-0 victories, junior defender Ashley Buck and freshman midfielder Eileen Solomon have earned Patriot League weekly honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Both awards mark the first of the season for the duo. The announcement also marks the third time this season that BU received multiple honors in the same week. Senior defender Elle Conlin and senior forward Jenna Oldham were both honored a week prior on Oct. 4 after senior defender Margaret Berry and freshman goalkeeper Celia Braun were recognized on Aug. 24.
Named PL Defender of the Week, Buck started both games in the backline, as BU extend the shutout streak to three straight games following wins over Yale and American. A native of Lafayette, Colorado, she played 73 minutes to help hold Yale just six shots and three on goal. She then played all 90 minutes against the Eagles, who were limited to a season-low three shot attempts.
The PL Midfielder of the Week Solomon provided the late-game heroics against American after playing 67 minutes in the win over the Bulldogs. In the 74th minute, the Port Erie, Ontario, native delivered a well-timed chip shot off a long pass from junior Kayla Ross for her first career goal.
The Terriers will next conclude their three-game homestand by hosting Holy Cross on Wednesday (Oct. 13) at 7 p.m.
