Stureman Named To NEWISA All-New England Third Team
December 15, 2021 | Women's Soccer
NEW ENGLAND – BU women's soccer junior midfielder Julianna Stureman continued to garner accolades with her selection on the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England Third Team, the organization recently announced.
Stureman is the second Terrier NEWISA has recognized after the 2021 campaign. Senior defender Jenna Oldham was invited to the 2021 Senior Bowl back in November.
The All-New England Team, which was voted on by NCAA Division I coaches from colleges and universities in New England, is comprised of a First Team, Second Team and a Third Team. Several voting ties have extended the size of some teams to appropriately honor all players tabbed by the coaches. Overall, the NEWISA All-New England Team highlights 41 players.
This latest award adds to an already impressive season resume for the Fort Wayne, Ind. native. Stureman played in all 20 matches for BU, starting in 17. Her 1,366 minutes ranked fourth on the team, as she notched an assist with six shots while contributing to a Terrier defense that notched seven shutouts this past season to earn the Patriot League regular season title.
During the semester, Stureman has been named to the All-Patriot League Second Team and All-Tournament Team. In addition to her athletic achievements, she was picked for the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
Stureman has appeared in 43 games throughout her Terrier tenure, making 23 starts and registering over 2,200 minutes.
The New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association is an over 35-year-old member organization that supports the women's collegiate soccer community in New England at the NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III level. NEWISA's signature program is the Senior Bowl. The organization also recognizes All-New England Teams, highlights Coaching Staff of the Year Awards, offers Coaching Scholarships and honors New England collegiate soccer alumna for their service efforts.
