HOW IT HAPPENED
- Princeton scored three times in a span of 2:29 in the early stages and never looked back, putting up five goals in the first quarter alone.
- Off a restart, Zoe Shephard dribbled up the left end line and popped a shot over the leg of BU goalkeeper Caroline Kelly just 1:50 into the contest.
- Just over a minute later, Sammy Popper intercepted a pass and dribbled in before creating space on the right side of the circle for a shot that found the back of the cage and a 2-0 lead.
- The Tigers completed the quick three-goal spurt when Beth Yeager created a turnover at midfield and weaved through the defense before sending a pass to Claire Donovan, who scored from the left post and pushed the lead to 3-0.
- Yeager made it a 4-0 contest in the 10th minute when she sent home a blast from the top right of the corner.
- Princeton used a corner for their fifth goal as Lily Webb redirected in the ball at the right post following a pass by Yeager.
- Yeager struck again in the 22nd minute when she scored off a pass from Hannah Davey.
- Looking to get on the board before halftime, BU earned a pair of corners late in the second quarter but was unable to take advantage of them.
- Yeager completed a hat-trick performance from the top of the circle off a corner at the 35:15 mark.
- Junior Rachel Borzymowski earned her fifth defensive save of the season and is now tied for the national lead in that category.
- Sophomore Kate Thomason played the second half in goal for the Terriers and made a pair of saves.
- Princeton outshot BU, 18-4, and held a 7-3 advantage in corners.
- Robyn Thompson made a pair of saves to earn the shutout in goal for the Tigers.
- BU will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 25) when it plays host to Bucknell in a rematch of last season's Patriot League title game.
- Game time at New Balance Field is set for 1 p.m.
