January 17, 2022 | Men's Ice Hockey
AMESBURY, Mass. - Junior Domenick Fensore of the Boston University men's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Defender of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Fensore was fantastic in the Terriers' 2-1 overtime win at UConn on Friday. He assisted on the opening goal of the contest when his effort on the backcheck forced a turnover in the neutral zone that directly led to junior Matt Brown's tally. Fensore finished the game with two blocked shots in addition to generating three shots on goal. His impact was felt beyond the stat sheet, however, as his tenacious play in all three zones was instrumental in the Terriers' victory.
A nominee for the 2022 Hobey Baker Award, Fensore is second in Hockey East and first among league defenders with 15 assists. He leads the Terriers with 18 points, a mark which is tied for ninth overall in the conference and is second among all Hockey East blue liners. The Thornwood, New York, native is on a three-game point streak and has notched a point in eight of his last nine appearances. Fensore has also blocked 25 shots this season.
This is Fensore's second Hockey East Defender of the Week award this season; he also earned the honor on Oct. 18.
BU will return to action on Friday, Jan. 21, when the Terriers welcome Vermont to Agganis Arena for the opener of a weekend series. Puck drop on Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m.
