EASTON, Pa. - The Boston University field hockey team had its first Patriot League setback of the season on Saturday, dropping a 2-0 road contest to Lafayette at Rappolt Field.
BU, which got a six-save performance by senior
Caroline Kelly, moves to 7-7 overall and 4-1 in league play.
The Leopards scored once in each half to earn their first conference win of the season and improve to 5-10 with a 1-3 PL mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening quarter was a back-and-forth affair with each team recording four shots.
- BU earned the first corner of the game in the eighth minute and then successfully defended back-to-back Lafayette corners later in the opening quarter.
- The Leopards opened the scoring off a corner in the 18th minute as Molly McAndrew converted off a redirect with an assist from Felicitas Hannes.Â
- The Terriers earned the only three corners that took place after halftime but were unable to capitalize off them.
- Lafayette got an insurance goal in the third quarter when Lineke Spaans scored off a reverse-stick shot to the right corner at the 40:32 mark.
GAME NOTES
- BU had a 4-3 advantage in corners while the Leopards recorded 12 shots to the Terriers' nine.
- Kelly made three of her six saves in the third quarter.
- Raffi Fragomeni made two saves in goal for the Leopards to earn the shutout.Â
