Softball Announces 2023 Schedule

BOSTON – Highlighted by meeting with 2022 Women's College World Series participant Florida and at least one matchup against four of the major conferences, the four-time defending Patriot League regular champion Boston University softball team has announced its 2023 schedule.
In total, the Terriers and eighth-year head coach Ashley Waters will compete in 20 contests against squads that posted a top-100 RPI this past spring with eight scheduled opponents reaching the NCAA tournament. BU will be on the road for the first 28 contests before opening the home slate against Yale on Tuesday, March 21, in a doubleheader set for a 2 p.m. start.
The program's 36th season will get underway with BU opening the USF Invitational against Saint Joseph's and Illinois on Thursday, Feb. 9. The Terriers will also face two NCAA participants in host South Florida and the SEC's Gators on Friday, Feb. 10.
Over the next two weekends at Charleston Invitational (Feb. 17-19) and the Queen City Classic (Feb. 24-26), the Terriers will face a pair of Power 5 schools in Georgia Tech (ACC) and Penn State (Big 10) while also facing MAAC champion Canisius two times.
BU will continue its annual tradition of flying west for spring break, playing 12 games in the state of California from March 3-11. The Terriers will first participate in the San Diego Classic on March 3-5 with two matchups against both Mountain West Conference champion San Diego State and Long Beach State. After visiting Big West champion Cal State Fullerton midweek for a single game, they will wrap up the trip at LBSU's Louisville Slugger Invitational with notable contests against Big Sky champion Weber State and Big 12 member Baylor.
Once back in New England, the Terriers will visit in-state foe Merrimack for a doubleheader on March 16 before hosting Yale on March 21. They will then visit Delaware for single games on March 25-26 and return home to host Big East regular season champion UConn on March 28. Patriot League play will get underway at Holy Cross in a three-game series on April 1-2.
BU has one other home non-conference game scheduled against Harvard on April 11. The Terriers will also visit UMass Lowell (April 4 DH), Providence (April 12), UMass (April 19) and Boston College (April 25).
During conference play, BU will host Lafayette (April 8-9), Colgate (April 22-23) and Army West Point (April 29-30) in weekend series while visiting Bucknell (April 15-16) and lastly Lehigh in the regular season finale on May 7-8.
The Patriot League tournament will feature the top four teams in the standings with the top seed hosting on May 11-13.
