Celebrini Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week
November 20, 2023 | Men's Ice Hockey
AMESBURY, Mass. - Freshman Macklin Celebrini of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Celebrini recorded four points in the Terriers' weekend sweep of No. 9 Maine. On Friday, he opened the scoring for BU with a power-play goal in the first period to tie the game at 1-1. Celebrini then collected three assists in Saturday's 5-4 victory, including a pair of primary helpers, to extend his point streak to eight games.
The 17-year-old center leads the nation with 22 points on nine goals and 13 assists. He has tallied six goals and 12 assists for 18 points over the last eight games and has only been held without a point once in 11 games. Celebrini has recorded multiple points on eight different occasions and is one of just two players to average two points per game this season. He leads all NCAA freshmen (tied for seventh overall) in goals and is tied for fourth overall (second among all rookies) in assists.
No. 5 BU will welcome No. 3 Quinnipiac to Agganis Arena on Wednesday for a top-five matchup. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets by clicking here.
