
BU Concludes Season in PL Quarterfinal, Drops 20-13 Decision at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The BU women's lacrosse (9-9) team dropped a 20-13 decision to Navy (13-5) in the Patriot League Quarterfinal game on Sunday afternoon. Four Terriers scored in the loss and goalkeepers Reilly Agres and Arielle Hammer made a combined 13 saves in net.
Grad student Maddie MacMaster led BU with seven goals of her own which is a career best performance. She also set a career best in points with seven. Senior Claire Gola found the back of the net three times, junior Kendall Sims did so twice and sophomore Abby Cotraro tabbed one goal.
Junior Tobey Tick led in assists with three to tie a career best mark. Senior Jennifer Barry recorded two while sophomore Hannah Tillier added one of her own.
The Terriers finish the season with an overall 9-9 record and a 4-5 record in Patriot League play. The season was highlighted by the program's first ranked win since 2014 and first trip to the postseason since 2021.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Navy opened the scoring with two goals of its own at 14:25 and 12:23.
- The Terriers got on the board when MacMaster scored on the free position.
- The Mids went on to score six unanswered goals, the last of which came on the free position.
- Just 13 seconds before the end of the opening frame, MacMaster scored BU's second of the day.
- After Navy scored on the free position to start the second quarter, Hammer entered the net for the Terriers.
- BU scored two back-to-back goals, the first of which was MacMaster's third of the day off a feed from Tick.
- Cotraro then found the back of the net on the free position with 9:56 to go in the half.
- Navy answered BU's two goal run with one of its own to go up 10-4.
- At the 6:08 mark, Gola spun around at the net to give BU its fifth goal of the day.
- The Mids responded once more with its 11th goal at 5:31.
- The Terriers scored two unanswered goals to end the half. Tick found MacMaster once more as she scored BU's sixth.
- Sims backed up MacMaster's goal at the 3:57 mark to end the scoring for the half with Navy leading 11-7.
- Navy struck first in the third quarter, but Sims answered with a goal thanks to a pass from Barry.
- The Mids scored on the free position and backed themselves up shortly thereafter to go up 14-8.
- Tick then found Gola near the crease who scored to make it 14-9.
- Agres re-entered the game with 4:45 to go.
- MacMaster then netted her fifth of the day to send the Terriers into double digits.
- Navy scored once more before the close of the quarter to lead 15-10 with one frame remaining.
- The Mids scored three back-to-back goals to start the fourth quarter.
- When Navy was serving a yellow card, MacMaster netted BU's 11th of the day with 7:27 to go.
- Gola followed with a goal of her own thanks to a pass form Tillier.
- Navy scored two more times to push to a 20-12 lead at the 4:36 mark.
- On the free position, MacMaster scored the final goal of the game with 3:38 to go to bring the final score to Navy 20, BU 13.
GAME NOTES
- Navy outshot BU 35 to 22.
- The Terriers scooped up 10 ground balls to Navy's 17.
- BU made 13 saves with eight from Agres and five from Hammer.
- The Terriers were 3-for-6 on the free position and 13-for-16 on the clear.
- Navy registered 26 draw controls to BU's 11.
