Ricard Tabbed CSE Freshman All-American
June 20, 2023 | Softball
BOSTON – Previously named both Patriot League Rookie and ECAC Rookie of the Year, Boston University softball pitcher Kasey Ricard has added Freshman All-America honors, as announced by the College Sports Evaluation organization.
When announcing its inaugural team, CSE shared the following: "Biases such as where a player goes to school, which conference a player plays in, play of years past are all out of the window. The only factor that is taken into account is in-game data analyzed by CSE's Data & Analytics Team."
A native of Littleton, Massachusetts, Ricard went 20-3 with a 1.89 ERA and 192 strikeouts in 148.0 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .180 batting average. She finished the season ranked in the top 100 nationally in nine categories, including shutouts (21st, 7), strikeouts per seven innings (22nd, 9.1), wins (28th, 20), saves (31st, 4) and ERA (56th, 1.89).
In some of her notable performances, Ricard blanked then-No. 12 Baylor, 2-0, with 10 strikeouts and earned her first career no-hitter against Holy Cross with 10 strikeouts after tabulating 17 strikeouts in a one-hit shutout over the Crusaders. She also tallied eight strikeouts in a three-hit shutout at South Florida and earned a save against UConn.
