The Boston University field hockey team will visit the nation's capital to take on American for a key Patriot League contest on Friday (Oct. 11). Game time is set for 2 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers are now 5-5 on the year and are coming off a hard-fought 2-1 loss at No. 9 Harvard on Sunday.
- BU improved to 2-1 in Patriot League play last Friday with a 3-2 victory over Holy Cross.
- Junior Natalie Epperson scored twice in the victory over the Crusaders and recorded the Terriers' lone goal against the Crimson.
- Senior Payton Anderson continues to lead the team in both points (15) and goals (7).
- Anderson needs two more points to enter the program's top-10 career list.
- Senior Tegan Poerio and junior Megan Wetzel each have a team-best five assists, which ranks tied for fourth in the Patriot League.
- The Terriers have scored on 14 of their 49 corners this season for a conversion percentage of 28.6 percent, which ranks second in the country.
- Graduate student Kate Thomason has started the past eight contests in goal for BU and has a 2.25 goals-against average and a .736 save percentage.
- American is the lone undefeated team in Patriot League play at 2-0 with wins over Lafayette and Colgate.
- The win over the Leopards was in double overtime and the Eagles are coming off a last-second, 3-2 home win over the Raiders.
- The Eagles have earned non-conference wins against Longwood, Lock Haven, William & Mary and Penn.
- Sophomore Jordan Reicher has had a breakout season and leads the team in both points (14) and goals (6).
- Senior Federica Turina Dellamaggiore has three goals, including the winner against Colgate.
- Graduate student Bryn Underwood is in her fifth year as the Eagles' primary goalkeeper and sports a .778 save percentage to go along with a 1.12 goals-against average.
SERIES HISTORY VS. AMERICAN
- BU is 13-6 in 19 all-time meetings with the Eagles.
- Last season, the Terriers dropped a 2-0 home contest to American in the regular-season finale.
- BU has won its past four road meetings with American.
- The schools first met during the 1997 season.
- BU will return home to face crosstown rival Northeastern on Sunday (Oct. 13).
- Game time at New Balance Field is set for 1 p.m.
