Men's Soccer Ends Homestand with Bucknell Saturday Afternoon

BOSTON – Wrapping up a three-game homestand, the Boston University men's soccer team will host Bucknell in a Patriot League matchup Saturday with a 1 p.m. start time.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is riding a 19-game unbeaten streak (13-0-6) at Nickerson Field against Patriot League opponents. This year, the Terriers earned a 3-2 win against Army West Point and most recently a 1-1 draw against Lafayette this past Saturday.
  • Overall, the Terriers are 1-1-5 at home with four of the ties ending in a 1-1 result, including Tuesday's contest with Harvard. The other draw was a scoreless battle against then-No. 9 New Hampshire in the season opener.
  • On Tuesday, graduate student Aidan Bone became the fourth Terrier to record two goals this fall, joining junior Quin DeLaMater, sophomore Andrea Di Blasio and junior Damola Salami.
  • DeLaMater leads BU with six points (2g,2a), while both Di Blasio and Salami own five points (2g,1a) apiece.
  • In total, 14 Terriers have earned at least one point this fall after senior Andrew Soczynski and senior Aidan Holmes assisted on Bone's goal against the Crimson.
  • Graduate student Andrew Wike, junior Ben Alexander and junior Sheraz Saadat have all started at least one game at net in conference play. They've combined for a .677 save percentage and 1.67 goals against average.
  • Opponents are averaging 2.5 more shots per game (10.3-7.8) with a 65-35 lead in corners. 
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
  • Bucknell sits atop the PL standings at 8 points with wins at American (1-0) and vs. Navy (2-1) alongside ties to Holy Cross (0-0) and Lehigh (2-2). 
  • Coming off Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Binghamton, the Bison have the best RPI in the conference at 93 after falling to three top-20 RPI teams in West Virginia, George Mason and Cornell by a combined score of 5-0.
  • Both Drew Roskos and Ben Sheffield own a team-high two goals apiece and are tied with David Krumov and Jack Lucas (1g,3a) at five points apiece.
  • Freddie Lapworth has played every second at net, posting a .786 save percentage and 1.09 goals against average with shutouts against the Eagles, the Crusaders, Mount St. Mary's and Robert Morris.
  • Opponents are averaging 0.6 more shots (11.1-10.5) with a 49-45 lead in corner kicks. 
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU and Bucknell are tied at 3-3-6 with nine of the contests going to overtime.
  • The Terriers have blanked the Bison in each of the last three contests, including a 1-0 road victory in 2023.
  • In the last meeting at Nickerson Field, BU claimed a 2-0 victory in 2022 following a 0-0 draw in Pennsylvania.
LOOKING AHEAD
  • The Terriers will hit the road with a trip to Colgate on Saturday, Oct. 19, for a 3 p.m. start time.
  • BU eliminated the Raiders, 2-0, in the PL semifinals at home last season after posting a 0-0 draw during the regular season.
  • BU is 4-1-1 over the last six meetings, including a 1-1 road mark after Colgate earned a 3-0 victory back in 2022.
