Terriers Shut Out at Lafayette, 5-0

EASTON, Pa. - The Boston University field hockey team wrapped up its Patriot League schedule on Friday evening with a 5-0 road loss to Lafayette at Rappolt Field.
The Leopards had a 1-0 lead at the break following a goal in the 23rd minute and then added another in the third quarter before putting the game away with a three-goal fourth.
Graduate student Kate Thomason tied a season high with 12 saves and junior Maddie Hudson added a defensive stop for the Terriers, who move to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first quarter in which the Terriers had a 2-0 edge in shots on goal, the Leopards opened the scoring in the 23rd minute.
- Off a corner, Josephine van Wijk scored on assists from India Ralph and Lineke Spaans.
- The Leopards took the one-goal edge into the half and then doubled their lead in the third when Spaans stole the ball and pull it around Thomason for a goal at 37:32.
- Lafayette put away any hopes of a comeback by scoring three more goals in a span of 2:48 in the fourth quarter.
- Ralph scored off a tip on a corner at 47:12 before Alex Darrah made it 4-0 just 66 seconds later.
- Stella Malinowski created the 5-0 final when she put in a rebound with exactly nine minutes to play.
GAME NOTES
- Lafayette held an 8-5 edge in corners and had an 18-5 advantage in shots on goal.
- Raffi Fragomeni picked up the shutout in goal for the Leopards with a five-save performance.
- Hudson's defensive save was the first of her career.
- Thomason tied his 12-save effort against Michigan back on Sept. 6.
UP NEXT
- The Terriers will close the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 3, when they host Cornell for Senior Day.
- Game time at New Balance Field is set for 2 p.m.
