TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is making a third consecutive PL semifinal appearance for the first time since joining the league in the summer of 2013. The Terriers last accomplished the feat in a conference since reaching 10 straight in the America East between 1989-1998.
  • BU is entering a tournament as the top seed for the 12th time and owns a 12-6-2 all-time record. The Terriers hoisted the trophy five times previously in 2023, 2008, 2004, 1994 and 1993.
  • Overall, the Terriers are 11-6-4 all-time in the semifinals after earning a 2-0 win over Colgate last season. They previously won in 2014 as the top seed against Army in overtime.
  • BU is currently riding a 21-game home unbeaten streak at Nickerson Field against Patriot League opponents with a 2-0-2 mark this season that featured wins over Bucknell (1-0) and Army West Point (3-2).
  • At least four Terriers earned All-PL honors for the third consecutive year on Thursday prior to the start of the tournament with junior Diego Rived earning the program's first Midfielder of the Year award from a conference for the first time since 2008 and classmate Quin DeLaMater claiming the squad's third straight Defensive Player of the Year award.
  • Sophomore Andrea Di Blasio received All-PL First Team accolades after posting nine points alongside DeLaMater (3g,3a) off four goals and an assist. 
  • Junior John Roman added the fourth All-PL honor with placement on the second team as a defender after helping the Terriers shut out Bucknell, Colgate and Navy.
  • Previously named PL Goalkeeper of the Week, graduate student Andrew Wike has appeared in 11 games at net, posting a .711 save percentage and 1.31 goals against average.
  • Opponents have attempted one more shot than BU this season, 164-163, with an 85-62 advantage in corner kicks.
SCOUTING COLGATE
  • The Raiders are 2-5-2 on the road this season with a 1-2-1 mark against PL competition with a 2-1 win at Lehigh, the squad they just beat at home in quarterfinals.
  • Colgate is on a three-game win streak with a 3-0 victory over Army and pair of wins against the Mountain Hawks.
  • Though 2024 PL Rookie of the Year Blake Pipkin leads the Raiders with 17 points off seven goals and three assists, he's only netted one game winner with six other teammates also scoring the go-ahead goal.
  • Two other Raiders in Cason Stafford and Aidan Wright have joined Pipkin in earning three assists apiece.
  • Oliver Townend has started 15 contests, posting a 1.18 goals against average and .700 save percentage while earning shutouts against Virginia, Holy Cross and Army.
  • Overall, opponents are attempting four more shots per game, 11.4-7.4, with a 75-64 lead in corners.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Terriers are 11-4-3 all-time against Colgate in a series dating back to 1979.
  • BU is 6-2-2 all-time at home with a four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) after the Raiders won in 2017, 4-0.
  • Back on Oct. 19, BU posted a 13-4 advantage in shots and pulled out a 1-0 win after a debated offsides call wiped out a Colgate goal resulting from a rebound shot and the Terriers drew a penalty kick with 1:01 remaining in regulation.
  • The teams are meeting in the PL tournament for the second time.

LOOKING AHEAD

  • The highest remaining seed will host the PL title game with the automatic NCAA bid on the line Saturday (Nov. 16) at a time to be determined.
