Women’s Basketball Starts Road Swing at UMass Lowell

BOSTON – Playing its second game in three days, the Boston University women's basketball program starts a three-game road stretch at UMass Lowell on Thursday (Dec. 12). Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
BU (4-4) will travel a combined 335 miles on its trek, also visiting Harvard and Yale to close out the 2024 calendar year. The Terriers look for their second consecutive road victory after defeating Le Moyne on Dec. 5.
UMass Lowell (2-8) vies for its first three-game winning streak since Jan. 6-13 a season ago. Thursday marks the second game in the River Hawks' three-game homestand.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers dropped a 72-36 game to UAlbany at home on Dec. 10.
- BU shot a season low 15 percent from three-point range and committed 20 turnovers.
- Senior Alex Giannaros led the Terriers with 14 points.
- Sophomores Audrey Ericksen and Bella McLaughlin each snagged six rebounds.
- Entering the game with 1,085 career points, Giannaros needs 12 more to match Nia Irving '20 for 20th place in program history, and 15 to become the 15th Terrier in program history to reach 1,100 career points.
- Not counting BU's exhibition against Emmanuel, UMass Lowell is the second of four Massachusetts-based schools the Terriers face this year.
- BU defeated Northeastern in its season opener on Nov. 4, faces Harvard next on Dec. 21 and will play Patriot League foe Holy Cross twice in conference play.
- Over its last five games, BU has kept its starting lineup the same with Giannaros, Ericksen, McLaughlin, sophomore Aoibhe Gormley and freshman Allison Schwertner.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
- The River Hawks are coming off a 49-38 victory over Iona on Dec. 10.
- After losing its first eight games of the season, UMass Lowell has won consecutive contests, including a victory over Le Moyne.
- The River Hawks have also lost games to Patriot League foes Colgate (74-62) and Holy Cross (61-49).
- Rayne Durant leads UMass Lowell student-athletes that have played every game with 11 points per contest, while Abbey Lindsay has scored 11.1 points per game across seven appearances.
- UMass Lowell was projected to finish seventh in the America East preseason poll.
- Last year, the River Hawks went 4-25, finishing conference play with a 4-12 mark.
- Thursday marks the 10th all-time meeting between BU and UMass Lowell in a series that began in 1976.
- This will be the sixth matchup since UMass Lowell transitioned to Division I.
- BU sports a 7-2 advantage in the rivalry, having won four in a row.
- This will be the fourth straight year the two sides play each other.
- Last year, BU was victorious at home, 60-58. Caitlin Weimar's hook shot beat the fourth quarter buzzer as she poured in a game high 33 points. Giannaros added 14 points.
- Before the holiday break, the Terriers visit #RV Harvard on Saturday (Dec. 21). Opening tip is scheduled for 12 p.m.
