March 19, 2024 | Women's Tennis
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Victoria Carlsten of the Boston University women's tennis team was named the Patriot League women's player of the week, the league announced Tuesday. This is Carlsten's second consecutive weekly award and third overall this season.
Carlsten went 2-1 in singles and 2-1 in doubles over the course of the team's trip to Florida. She helped BU defeat Lynn 4-3 and upset then-No. 55 FAU 4-3.
In singles, she was the only Terrier to face a ranked individual against then-No. 27 FIU and nearly defeated her #56 opponent after forcing the second set to a tiebreak. After a close first set with her Lynn foe, she battled back to dominate in the second set 6-2 and secure the win. She also earned the first singles point in BU's upset over #55 FAU and was the only Terrier who won in singles that did not drop a set.
In doubles, she put up the biggest fight at FIU as a member of the only doubles pair to win more than two games in a set. She helped BU win the doubles point against a tough Lynn team and set the foundation for BU to claim the doubles point over #55 FAU with an efficient 6-1 win.
The Terriers will next face No. 38 Yale on Saturday in New Haven, Conn., at 1 p.m.
