The Boston University field hockey team will play its first home Patriot League game of the season on Saturday (Sept. 28) when it faces Lehigh at New Balance Field.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers dropped their Patriot League opener last Friday in a 2-1 double-overtime contest at Bucknell.
- Senior Payton Anderson has scored at least one goal in three straight games and leads the team in points (10) and goals (5).
- Anderson's goal total is tied for third in the Patriot League this season and her career total of 29 goals places her ninth all-time at BU.
- Senior Tegan Poerio and junior Megan Wetzel are tied for third among Patriot League players in assists with three apiece.
- The Terriers have scored on nine of their 35 corners this season.
- Graduate student Kate Thomason has started the past five contests in goal for BU and has a 2.75 goals-against average and a .681 save percentage.
- BU is in its 47th season at the varsity level.
- The Mountain Hawks opened their Patriot League schedule with a 5-1 home victory over Colgate on Saturday.
- Lehigh's non-conference wins this season have come against Wagner, Rider and Fairfield.
- Junior Lela Boermeester scored the first two goals of the game against the Raiders.
- Fifth-year Julia Gatelein, the reigning PL Defensive Player of the Week, leads the team in points (11) and goals (5).
- Boermeester and fellow junior Kiki Mes each have two goals and an assist on the year.
- Senior Jenny Canoni has started all seven games in goal and sports a 2.40 goals-against average and a .673 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY VS. THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
- Saturday will mark the 13th all-time meeting between the two schools.
- BU is 8-4 against the Mountain Hawks but has dropped four of the past six meetings including each of the last two.
- Last season in Bethlehem, an 18th-minute strike by Lehigh was the only goal of the contest.
- The Terriers are 4-0 against Lehigh on New Balance Field.
- BU will continue Patriot League play next Friday (Oct. 4) when it hosts Holy Cross.
- Game time at New Balance Field is set for 3 p.m.
- The game will be televised on NESN.
