October 6, 2025 | Women's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time this season, Boston University women's soccer senior Giulianna Gianino was selected as the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Gianino previously earned the honor on Aug. 25. She is the first Patriot League student-athlete to capture the recognition multiple times this year. Overall, the Norwell, Mass. native has won five PL Midfielder of the Week awards and seven in her career.
Across two wins for BU last week, Gianino tallied a goal and two assists. She started the week with a three-point effort in the Terriers' 3-2 triumph at Army West Point on Oct. 1. After supplying the assist on BU's second goal from a free kick, the senior buried the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute. She followed that up with an assist on the Terriers' second goal in a 5-0 victory over Lafayette on Oct. 4.
With her four points, Gianino became the eighth Terrier in program history to eclipse the 60-point plateau. As of writing, she ranks eighth in the BU record books with 23 goals and 62 points. This year, she leads the Patriot League with six assists and 26 shots on goal while ranking second with 16 points.
Senior Mackenzie Stickelman and sophomore Alli Powderly were honorable mentions for the week as well. Stickelman tied for first among her league counterparts with three goals last week, while Powderly potted her first collegiate tally in the win over the Leopards.
BU returns to action with a rematch of the 2024 Patriot League title game, visiting Bucknell on Saturday (Oct. 11) at 1 p.m.
