Nell Earns Patriot League Rookie of the Week Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After going the distance in a win over UMBC, Boston University softball freshman Danika Nell has earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
The rookie award marks the second in a row for the Terriers after Biz Baglieri claimed the honor last Monday. A native of Boissevain, Manitoba, Nell combined for 15 strikeouts over 13.0 innings of work against the Retrievers and Pirate Clash host, East Carolina.
Nell started off recording seven strikeouts and four hits allowed in a 9-2 victory over UMBC with both runs coming up earned. She then entered the circle in relief at ECU, posting a personal-best eight strikeouts against five hits and two walks in 6.0 innings during a 4-1 loss.
Sitting at 7-2, BU will next head to South Carolina's Garnet & Black Invitational on Feb. 21-23 for five games, including two apiece against the Gamecocks and UNLV.
