BOSTON — The Boston University women's lacrosse team will take on Fairfield at Nickerson Field on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Opening draw is set for 3:30 p.m. The game will be televised on NESN in addition to being on ESPN+.
The Terriers are wrapping up a four-game homestand to open their season. They won their last matchup against Stonehill 14-6 at Nickerson Field on Saturday, Feb. 15.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Aiosa was named PL Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday following a 2-0 week.
- She tied her career high in saves with 12 against Stonehill and made eight stops against Sacred Heart.
- Currently, Aiosa leads the PL in save percentage (.508) and saves per game (10.67). She ranks 16th in the NCAA in saves per game and 22nd in save percentage.
- BU had three Terriers pot hat tricks on Saturday, with senior Hannah Tillier, junior Elle Stevenson and sophomore Izabella Amonte all scoring thrice.
- Amonte – in her first season of competition – leads BU in goals with seven and points with nine through three games.
- As a team, the Terriers currently rank 29th in ground balls per game (18.67) in the NCAA.
- They are led by freshman defender Alexandra Burns, who has nine ground balls and five caused turnovers in her first three games of action.
- Burns was a Patriot League honorable mention following last week's games.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
- The Stags have gotten off to a rocky start with two straight losses to open the year, falling to Holy Cross 22-13 and UConn 18-5.
- Fairfield lost four of its top six scorers who combined for 146 goals a season ago.
- Kelly Haggerty leads the team in goals (4) and points (6) and is tied for the lead in assists (2) after scoring 20 goals a season ago.
- Freshman Keira Furey starts in goal for the Stags and has allowed 40 goals through two games.
THE SERIES
- BU is 5-1 against Fairfield and 2-0 at home.
- Fairfield won the last meeting between these two teams in 2022, 14-10. Prior to that, the Terriers had taken every meeting.
