NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Boston University women's tennis team opened its fall slate with dominant wins over foes from the Ivy League and Big Ten at the Yale Bulldog Invitational this weekend.
 
BU won a combined 16 out of 23 singles matches over the course of the tournament. Junior Ellie Gyuro and freshman Vasilisa Borisova both went 3-0 in their singles matches to go unbeaten on the weekend. Gyuro took down opponents from Brown, Yale and Rutgers while Borisova defeated Brown, Quinnipiac and Rutgers opponents. 
 
The Terriers were a relentless force in their play against Brown, sweeping the singles through all eight matches. Junior Blanka DeMicheli, sophomore Madison Liu, freshman Lauren Kettlewell, junior Nancy Liu and Gyuro all found their way to victory in straight sets, while sophomore Gabriella Mikaul, senior Rhea Rai and Borisova all won with a super tiebreak. BU nearly swept singles against Rutgers, going six-for-seven in wins. Each match was decided in straight sets with four Terriers only giving up a maximum of two games per set.
 
In doubles, M. Liu and N. Liu paired to defeat their foes from Yale in a 7-5 decision. M. Liu picked up another doubles win alongside Borisova against Rutgers, 6-4. N. Liu found her second doubles win of the weekend with Mikaul, defeating their Scarlett Knight opponents, 7-5.
