BOSTON – The Boston University women's ice hockey team is searching for its third Beanpot title in program history when it faces Harvard on Tuesday at TD Garden for the 47th Dunkin' Women's Beanpot Championship. Puck drop against the Crimson is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $15 with no fees at this link.

This will be the second time in the month of January that BU and Harvard compete for a mid-season tournament trophy after the teams met in the Friendship Series championship. BU took that meeting, 3-2, to earn rights to the Belpot.

BEANPOT SNAPSHOT

The Terriers are 13-20-6 in Beanpot games since becoming a varsity program in 2005.
BU has won two Beanpot championships - one in 2019 and another in 1981 as a club team.
The Terriers are the only team to reach the Beanpot title game all three times it has been held at TD Garden.
BU has reached the title game 10 previous times, most recently in 2025 when Northeastern and BU met for the second year in a row, with the Huskies winning 4-0.
The Terriers and the Crimson have met in the Beanpot 14 times since BU became a varsity program.
The last time the nearby foes met in the championship was in 2019, when BU won 3-2 in overtime.
In 2024 and 2025, BU played in front of record-breaking crowds at TD Garden, consisting of 10,633 fans and 13,279 fans, respectively. Both set a record for the largest crowd to ever watch a women's hockey game in New England at the time.

BEANPOT SEMIFINALS RECAP

BU played No. 7 Northeastern in the semifinals on Tuesday, defeating the Huskies in an overtime thriller, 2-1.
Lexie Bertelsen lit the lamp for BU before Northeastern responded with its only goal.
In overtime, captain Maeve Carey scored on the power play to send the Terriers to the championship game at TD Garden for the third consecutive year.
Mari Pietersen backed BU to the win with a 35-save performance, stopping the last 28 shots she faced.
Greta Henderson and Riley Walsh earned assists on linemate Bertelsen's goal while sisters Keira and Sydney Healey assisted on the game-winner.

TERRIER TIDBITS

Over the weekend, BU hosted Holy Cross and fell, 4-2.
Junior Neely Nicholson and senior Luisa Welcke scored for the Terriers.
Lu. Welcke, senior Lilli Welcke and sophomore Keira Helaey all registered assists.
Junior Mari Pietersen started in net, making 14 stops.
Freshman Jackie Wright made her collegiate debut, stopping all seven shots she faced.
Holy Cross committed zero penalties in the game - the last time BU had an opponent commit zero penalties in a game was on Jan. 18, 2025, which was also in between Beanpot games.
The Terriers' faceoff win percentage of 0.552 is second in Hockey East and ninth in the nation.
BU's four shorthanded goals lead the league and are third-most in the NCAA.
The Terriers' penalty killing percentage of 0.848 is good for fifth in Hockey East and 13th in the NCAA.
Li. Welcke leads the Terriers in faceoff wins with 247, which ranks second in Hockey East and 23rd in the NCAA.
Sydney Healey's goals per game of 0.500 is third best in Hockey East and she leads the Terriers in points with 19.
Bertelsen was named co-rookie of the week by Hockey East on Jan. 19. It is her first weekly award of her career.
Pietersen's save percentage (.927) ranks sixth in Hockey East and 23rd in the NCAA.
Michelle Pasiechnyk's save percentage (.910) ranks 10th in the league.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON

Harvard is 10-10-1 on the season with a 2-1-0 record in neutral site play.
In the weekend in between Beanpot games, Harvard went 0-2-0, dropping a 3-1 decision to No. 9 Princeton and a 4-1 outcome to No. 6 Quinnipiac.
Harvard's last win came against Boston College in the Beanpot Semifinals, 2-1.
The Crimson are 2-2-1 in overtime contests this season and lost the only shootout it has contended.
Harvard is 3-2-0 against Hockey East teams this season.
