The No. 19/RV Boston University men's ice hockey team will continue its 104th season this weekend when the Terriers travel to UMass on Friday (Jan. 9) and host the Minutemen on Saturday (Jan. 10). Puck drop on ESPN+ is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday In addition, an audio-only broadcast for both games will be located here.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers enter Friday having won four of their last five games, including defeating Northeastern in the final game at Matthews Arena on Saturday, Dec. 13.
- Trailing 3-2, BU scored twice in the span of 18 seconds in the third period to come back and triumph, 4-3.
- With the goalie pulled, sophomore Kamil Bednarik tied the game for BU with 1:57 remaining in regulation before classmate Brandon Svoboda's sensational individual effort just moments later gave the Terriers their first lead of the game over Northeastern.
- Svoboda finished the night with two goals while sophomore Sacha Boisvert also found the back of the net.
- Sophomore Nick Roukounakis assisted on both of Svoboda's goals while senior Owen McLaughlin, junior captain Gavin McCarthy, sophomore Cole Eiserman, and freshmen Jonathan Morello, Malte Vass and Charlie Trethewey all chipped in one assist apiece.
- The Terriers also completed an 8-2 win in an exhibition contest over Simon Fraser, with goals from sophomore Sacha Boisvert (2), junior Jack Harvey (2), Svoboda and freshmen Jonathan Morello, Jack Murtagh and Ryder Ritchie.
- Sophomore Sascha Boumedienne returns from winning gold with Team Sweden at the 2026 World Junior Championship, scoring the eventual game-winner in a 4-2 win over Czechia in the championship game.
- Sophomores Cole Eiserman, Cole Hutson and Kamil Bednarik all played for Team USA in that tournament.
- Hutson tallied four points and combined with his 11 from the 2025 World Junior Championship, he is Team USA's highest career point-scoring defenseman ever at the tournament with 15 total points.
- The Terriers are third in the nation and first in Hockey East with six shorthanded goals this season.
- Hutson leads all Hockey East defensemen with 20 points (7g, 13a), including three game-winning goals, entering this weekend.
HISTORY WITH UMASS
- The Terriers are 73-15-9 (.799) all-time against UMass in a series that began on Jan. 16, 1920.
- BU earned its first win in program history against UMass, which was known then as Massachusetts Agricultural College, on Jan. 11, 1923, at Boston Arena.
- The Terriers are 10-1-2 over the last 13 games against UMass, including a split of last year's home-and-home series and a win in the Hockey East quarterfinal.
LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE MINUTEMEN
- The Terriers propelled past UMass, 3-2, in overtime in the Hockey East quarterfinal round on March 15, 2025 at Agganis Arena.
- Cole Eiserman was the OT hero, scoring 2:59 into the extra frame to advance the Terriers to the Hockey East semifinal at TD Garden.
- The teams traded goals all game, with BU getting tallies from Sascha Boumedienne and Shane Lachance.
SCOUTING THE MINUTEMEN
- UMass opened up 2026 the same way the Terriers did: with a win in an exhibition over Simon Fraser.
- The Minutemen dispatched of the Red Leafs, 7-0, last Friday (Jan. 2).
- Junior Jack Musa—who recently played for the U.S. Collegiate Selects at the Spengler Cup—leads the team in scoring with 21 points and 13 assists.
- Freshman Václav Nestrašil just finished a stint with Czechia at the 2026 World Junior Championship; he leads the Minutemen in goals with 10.
- The Minutemen employ tandem goaltenders in junior Michael Hrabal (11 GP, 3.00 GAA, .897 SV%) and classmate Jackson Irving (8 GP, 2.75 GAA, .934 SV%).
