Scott Ellis joined the Boston University Department of Athletics in September 2008 as an assistant director for athletic communications and was promoted to his current position of associate director in June 2015. Ellis serves as the primary contact for the Terriers' men's basketball, men's soccer, tennis and softball programs. A lover of history, he serves on the BU Athletic Hall of Fame committee and also works as a secondary contact for the rowing teams.

During his tenure, he has coordinated press operations for the 2011 America East and 2014 Patriot League men's basketball title games with the addition of matchups held during the 2010 CBI and 2014 NIT postseason tournaments. More recently, he's run three straight Patriot League softball tournaments on campus. He has successfully pitched stories on BU athletics to several major media outlets, including ESPN, Sports Illustrated, the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald.

An avid follower of all sports, Ellis brings a wide range of experience to the program. Prior to his arrival at BU, he served from July 2007 to June 2008 as the main contact for the Virginia Tech women's soccer and swimming and diving teams while also working as the secondary contact for the men's basketball program.

The year before his stay in Blacksburg, Va., from July 2006 to April 2007, he interned with the Miami Dolphins media relations department. He concluded his internship by assisting the NFL during the week of Super Bowl XLI and on game day at Dolphin Stadium, helping coordinate press conferences and dissemination of relevant information. He then spent two months as the media manager for the Sony Ericsson Open, the fifth-largest tennis tournament in the world, where he wrote press releases and coordinated on and off-site appearances for the top players.

Ellis graduated from Rice University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and kinesiology. With the Owls, he served for three years as a radio broadcaster for the baseball team, including the 2003 College World Series championship season.

He then earned master's degrees in both business administration (MBA) and sports administration (MSA) from Ohio University, during which time he served as a graduate assistant in the Bobcats' sports information office. While there, he served as the primary contact for the cross country and track & field teams and handled stat crew responsibilities for several sports, including football and basketball.

Ellis has volunteered at several major events, including the 2003, 2004 and 2005 Sugar Bowls and the 2005 Major League Baseball Winter Meetings. He has completed internships in college with the Houston Astros, the New Orleans Zephyrs and a CBS affiliate's sports department in his hometown.

Prior to his start in the athletics communications field, he served the summer of 1998 as a United States House of Representative Congressional Page and then interned for his Louisiana representative at the U.S. Capitol in 2001.

A native of New Orleans, La., Ellis currently resides in Brighton and is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America and the United States Basketball Writers Association.
