Storrs, Conn. - Playing in its third overtime contest in as many games, the Boston University women's soccer team (2-2-2) dropped a 1-0 decision to Connecticut (3-2-0) on Friday night on the first day of the UConn Classic. BU will now turn its focus to No. 24 Penn State (2-4-0), which lost to No. 8 Wake Forest earlier in the day.

After going through nearly 100 minutes of scoreless action, Connecticut broke the deadlock with a goal at 97:37 off a cross from Linda Ruutu to Melissa Dusque, who put the ball into the upper right side of the goal.

Senior Janie Reilly finished the game with seven saves, while sophomore Jessica Luscinski paced the offense with four shots.

The first half was tightly contested with strong defensive performances as both teams were only able to manage one shot on goal, with BU holding the slight 3-2 advantage in total shots. Senior Emily Pallotta was the lone Terrier to put a strike on net with a shot in the 11th minute.

In the second half, BU came out firing on all cylinders, unloading three shots within a two-minute span led by senior Farrell McClernon's strike that was on target, but saved by UConn netminder Jessica Dulski. As the second stanza continued to unfold the Huskies countered with a few attempts of their own, and they nearly broke through in the 66th minute when Brittany Taylor hit the post. Over the next 10 minutes, UConn continued to apply the pressure as it directed eight more attempts towards the BU goal, including one that went wide in the final seconds.

In the opening seconds of overtime, the Huskies got off two quick shots, before the Terriers cleared it out and drew a corner kick on the opposite end of the field. After nearly 10 more minutes of scoreless action, UConn broke through in the 98th minute off Ruutu's cross to Dusque, who put away the game-winning goal.

The Terriers will face off with No. 24 Penn State on Sunday (Sept. 13) at 11:30 a.m. in Storrs, Conn.
