
Terriers Split with Texas Tech, Winthrop

TAMPA, Fla. - The Boston University softball team (11-7) split its two Saturday games as it fell to Texas Tech, 4-0, and rebounded with a 4-1 win over Winthrop. Freshman Amy Ekart recorded four hits and senior April Setterlund went 3-for-4 on the day.
Sophomore Whitney Tuthill earned the win in the nightcap as she allowed just one unearned run in seven innings of work vs. Winthrop. Freshman Holli Floetker suffered the loss against Texas Tech by allowing eight hits and four earned runs. She struck out three in the process.
In game one, Texas Tech scored in the second and fourth as it was held to a .310 batting average - 100 percentage points below its average heading into the game.
In game two, Setterlund batted at the top of the order and came through with a 2-for-4 afternoon. She was unable to drive home runners, however, freshman Brittany Clendenny plated two.
The Terriers put one up in the first on an error at shortstop. Two frames later, they went ahead for good on RBI singles. In the sixth, Winthrop made an attempt in the sixth frame on a single up the middle, however, that's as far as they would come as BU held on for the 4-1 vitory.
On Sunday (March 20, BU will play Jacksonville at 9:30 a.m.
