BOSTON - Late this summer, two Boston University softball alums earned head coaching positions in the collegiate ranks with Cassidi Hardy ('10) headed to Wheelock College and Shayne Lotito ('09) landing at Bryant University, respectively.
Serving as the pitching coach for the Terriers in 2011, Hardy was named America East Pitcher of the Year in 2010 and was a four-time All-Conference honoree. She posted a career .675 winning percentage with a school-record 85 victories, while owning the program standards for career appearances (154), complete games (95), innings pitched (840) and no-hitters (5). She also placed second with 825 strikeouts and 32 shutouts.
Before joining Bryant, Lotito previously served as an assistant coach at Boston College and Babson College. She was also a strength and conditioning graduate assistant coach with the Terriers. During her tenure as a four-time All-Conference memember at BU, she finished first in stolen bases (95) and fourth all-time in batting average (.334).
Both Hardy and Lotito played key roles in guiding BU to the NCAA tournament regional final in 2009 and its first postseason appearance since 2003. Hardy returned the following season to help the Terriers claim back-to-back bids.
